August 2008 Live Tasting - Final Poll

Postby Ganga » Mon Jul 14, 2008 12:11 am

The preliminary poll selected out the three candidates for the final poll to determine the August 2008 Live Tasting. Please select one distillery and one date.

Also, it has been suggested that we make the tastings a weekend event so that those unable to make a Friday can participate on Saturday or vice versa. Please comment in a post.

At this time we're soliciting suggestions for the September 2008 Live Tasting.

I chose Mortlach because I've really enjoyed what I've tried from them so far. Plus I have a few samples kicking around that I haven't tried yet. As far as the date, Friday the 15th or Saturday the 16th both work ok with me.

Bladnoch, 23 August. I agree that a weekend event would be a good idea. For September, the runners up in August plus Rosebank and Scapa.

It's a rough and tumble vote this month. Near dead heat for the whisky and right now a draw on the date. And me only allowed to vote in the case of a draw.

Bladnoch 23rd August. More than happy to do Mortlach and sprigbank any date but Bladnoch is under estimated for me.

Wow the whisky is a dead heat at the moment. I voted Bladnoch.

All are good though.

I have a bottle of Mortlach 16yo F&F that eeps looking at me funny so I'd like to try it in (at the very least virtual) company. Apart from that if you'll send me samples I'll try anything! Looking forward to my first live tasting.!

Eee it's blummin' close this time! I voted for Bladnoch on Friday 15th, but I'd be equally happy with Mortlach - though I'd need to get hold of one or two first in order to take part. Not overly fussed about Springbank really, but I have a couple of bottles at hand if it came to that.

I really have enjoyed the Bladnoch's I've tried. But since I only have 1 sample of 1 expression, I'd really have to work hard trying to get more before the tasting.

Mortlach and Springbank are both plentiful in my cabinet, with a new bottle of each on their way. :D

I'm happy either way though, they are all good IMO.

Cool! I think there will be a wide varity of bottles for the tasting since all Mortlach over here (US) are from independent bottlers and only the 16yo F&F as the "OB" on the other side of the big pond (unless someone is lucky enough to have their 32yo OB!).

Cheers!
