So what would be some good bottlings to look out for? I have never tried Mortlach but have heard very good things. I know Binny's has 10 or so to choose from. Thanks in advance for your insight.

Bob O - I just recently purchased my first, the 1991 Signatory Vintage 15 YO. I can't compare it to other Mortlach bottles, but by itself it is a great dram. I found this at Total Wine, which I think the closest to you is Roseville, probably a bit long of a hike. :D

One from Binny's that I've been enjoying of late is the Signatory Mortlach 1989 Vintage 17 Year Old Cask Strength for $65 and is one of the tastier Morty's I've had.

Cheers!

Thanks for the suggestions. The Signatory from Binnys is one of the ones I had my eye on. I just thought I would seek some input from the knowledgable crowd here.

Unfortunately Roseville is a bit of a jaunt, however my brother lives closer so I have let him know that if he finds himself in the area to pick one up. :D

This weekend, I will be setting up the September poll. If you have any suggestions for a distillery, get them in.

Going to have to get myself some Mortlach for the tasting. What would be the best bottle to buy for a beginner?

The 16yo Flora & Fauna seems to be a big hit, and it's reasonably priced at Royal Mile Whiskies for £39.95 (Inc VAT).

Sweet John, I'd go for that! I'd love to try more from Bladnoch, but availability here is very limited.

You keep trying don't you ryguy :). Can't say I blame you though!

I nominate Bruichladdich. No shortage of variation with that one...

It's worth a try I suppose. Plus it'd give me an excuse to buy another bottle. I'm loving the Scotts bottling. :D :D

I'd like to take part in this but have not got Mortlach, I may have to sit out until the Bruichladdich (if it wins) in September.

I think I have a fair bit of the same as Ryan. I'm hoping for a sample of the Scott's 1961 from Mikey. :D And I have a G&M **** :P Mortie should be lots of fun.

I have requested that the live tasting thread for Mortlach be setup a day or two in advance of Saturday to accomodate those that can't make Saturday. Looking forward to seeing a wide variety of Morties this weekend.

15yo from G&M
10yo 1995 Provenance (almost done)

I'll be on later this evening, keeping it going for the US folks who are coming on late. My family lobster feed got moved to this afternoon, so I'll be enjoying Maine Lobster today!!
