Agreed, he can pick out things with his experienced chef nose that I cannot touch - nore his wife.

Then again it's part of his job to smell things , i bet for people who have a job where smelling isn't involved , women would come out better . It's surprising at tastings , tours etc how much better the fairer sex are at it !

The G&M 15 40 keeps opening up, plum duff and pot boiling raisins, chewy deep and luxurious. Chill filtered but still warm. When can we do 76.57? I'm itching to try it!

This beverage is becoming like an old friend... I really like it every time I come back to it. Might even need more reserve bottles.

Mark have you any thoughts on where we might lay hands on a bottle of this 'cause Mikey is torturing me with it?

butter toffees, little cask donation beyond soft sweet vanilla, very pale to be ready so quick. Water mellows the whole to take you back from the edge of the seat expectancy of 'where's the party?' although a curious mustyness comes and goes. Should have had it first. Yum

P: mellowed spices-cinnamon, bees wax, vanilla

Starting off with something on the lighter side and saving the big guns for later this evening. Beginning with a freshly opened.....
Mortlach 13yo 1990 Murray McDavid 46% Fresh Sherry

Color
Medium walnut

Nose
Chocolate and nuts, some dry rubber notes

Palate
A dry sherry and slightly creamy

Finish
Medium length with a bit of spice, drying.

I think you'd better take some of the EVIL ONE with you on Thursday Willie. I've got some G&M 1954 up the loft come to think of it. Hows the 50yo? A patient, I mean, customer wanted some 1936 for his Pa-in-law's 70th, I suggested trying a mini first before investing, he was glad not to buy the bottle ~£1000

P: slight marzipan flavors coming over a vanilla, bees wax, little bit of honey too
F: sweet mixture of vanilla, honey and bees wax

Just read through the posts, didn't read anything about a bad Morty yet. Just had a little Glengoyne 10 to get used to the alcohol.
Starting with Signatory vintage 1991-2007, 15yo, 43%, hogshead, cask 4168+69.

40%?! Tut

More honey on the nose than the previous offerings, sulphur doesn't make much of an appearance, those 19 years lend a depth and length the 15yo fell short of, why did the community build a church and name it Mortlach when the distillery was there?

Incidentally Mortlach could be my favourite name for a still. It just sounds proper. almost like something from the underworld, a character from Tolkein. I've heard it translated as :

bowl of dead ducks - after a scrap with the Danes nearby

or

big beauty - I know my preference
