Glass: SMWS Glass

Nose: Very powerful nose, lemony and grassy, also something rich and sweet.

Palate: Rich and sweet, this one really needs water for me, so I added a cap. It makes all the difference here. Some toffee/dark chocolate that I'm noticing.

Finish: Long and tasty, very nice!

A cap of water, how much is that?

I find the notes so far pretty interesting. Especially how many are producing grassy and other floral notes!

Mortlach 15yo G&M 40%

Nose: Oranges and tea again. Less hints of sulphur in this one, but still a little there in the background.
Palate: Oranges, stewed fruits, seems like oloroso cask(s). Pencils and cocoa.
Finish: delightful fizzing on the tongue. medium to long.

This is nice too.

I got a pile of MMcD's at the same time and I must have copied the notes from the Bowmore '91 14y at the time, and forgot to update everything. I guess that there are bad parts to being a lazy bastard......

Mikey and I split a bottle. My recollection is that I sent Ryan a sample of this to try several months ago.

Yes, and I held onto it for quite some time. It is definitely a tasty Morty!!

I'm off everyone, until later on this evening (probably 9-9:30pm EST). My boys are up from nap, and it's about time to go! Look forward to reading the notes from everyone later.

Happy Anniversary Ganga!! :D :D

Actually, it was posted elsewhere yesterday. Tomorrow is #17.

The boys are leaving to go up to G'mas for the night. The bride and I are going to dinner and a movie to celebrate.

I really don't think it has to do with sex. Rather, I think it has to do with experience. Mikey's bro is one of the best noses I've come across.

The G&M 15yo 40% is a stock item for my mates up in Elgin. They swear by it and I'm no stranger to it myself. Unexpected smoke coming late in the palate, just a lovely amount of sherry influence. even at 40% this is got lots to say. Has anybody tasted a bad Mortlach? I've heard frightening things about the latest F&F but haven't had ant imperical experience.

Mortlach 12yo 1993 ( 46%, Murray McDavid, Bourbon/Syrah Enhanced in Syrah Guigal Cotes Rotie cask, /1800 bottles, in tube )

This beverage is becoming like an old friend... I really like it every time I come back to it. Might even need more reserve bottles.

The COLOR is a very nice reddish brown; you can tell it is not a normal release with the wine finish

The NOSE comes right off with hard candy. Kind of like a grape flavored 'jolly rancher' for those on this side of the world. I guess that maybe a factor in why I like it - reminds my of a childhood favorite candy. Here is some malt hidden in the background with a layer of spice and cake to back it all up.

On first taste (first taste of the day), the complex layer of spice, and fruit play across the PALATE. Makes my eyes flutter a little bit... ooph I like this dram..... Good mouth feel, with oranges and nutmeg coming though strong, with a slightly dryness coming on (probably from the red wine, kind of like tannins but in a different way.

The FINISH just nice fresh and a little dry... not to steal from MT but it makes me want to have more.

Nice beverage that is wrapped around a fruit spice bomb.
