New Years 2009-Drams Around the World

Postby Ganga » Wed Dec 31, 2008 5:52 am

Well, I plan to ring in the New Year and send wishes to my friends around the world. So if you feel inclined to join in, please do. I will be joining in after work tomorrow at roughly 3 PM Pacific/11 PM Greenich.

Assuming Gordon approves, I will be on Chat at his site. (I'm asking Gordon).

A glass of milk to the Kiwis and Aussies (and all the other early zones) that have already turned over. I see Darwin is coming up in a few minutes and at the hour Tokyo. Off to do some field work in a moment and will be back here later today/tomorrow.

It's 9AM on New Year's Day in Antarctica. Wish I had some SMS left to toast with you folks but I have been out for over a week now. The little coffee house has Bushmill's so I have been enjoying a few of those the past week. Have a great 2009, everyone.

I have company at the moment and will be heading next door to a party for a wee while, but if I can still type I'll be popping in until I can get on full time.

Doing the same here. It's too cold to howl at the moon and our tough drinking and driving laws are getting even tougher at Midnight so it's best just to stay home.
Besides, it's just amateur's night anyway. :dead:

How is the Glenrothes Lonach? One of my local shops has it but it is hard to find reviews of it.

It is a really good dram Sean.... It is a good beverage for the price. It is soft with the low %, but nice blend of spices on the palate.

It's what me and me mates use to say. Anyone can get drunk on Amateur's night (and usually do)....it takes a Pro to do it nightly as it was for me much of my 20's and 30's. So yeah, that quite sums it up.

Moving on to a nice Laphroaig

Laphroaig OMC 1992 11yo 57.8%

Very subtle nose, the peat is there but it's mostly engine oil and smoke. Very nice. The palate is surprisingly creamy and smooth, then tons of smokiness explodes towards the finish....very good bottling!
