Laphroaig 11yo ( 58.2%, SMWS, Cask #29.71, Oct-96/Aug-08 )

Tons of smoke and iodine on the nose. Burnt wood, more smoke and a small hint of vanilla on the palate. The finish is very long, and the maritime notes come through. Overall a very nice bottling! Another stunning cask selection from the Society!

Rumor is that the 15 is to be replaced by the 18 and the 30 by the 25. I've also heard that the 10 is to be replaced by the 12. These are all rumors though.

Laphroaig 18yo ( 61.9%, PLOWED, DL Cask Ref 2281, 1988/2006 )

The nose has a bit of sweetness to it, with smoke and pepper. On the palate it actually starts sweet, then gets peppery and smokey with iodine and salty notes. Nice and really complex dram!

Now this stuff is just crazy, completely different from the last one I just had.

We had a night on Islay last night to celebrate the New Year. The dramming included:

Never made it any further, but not a bad effort.
