Dalmore 15yo

Hello,
I am new here. I have received Dalmore 15yo for Christmas and I am looking forward to open it (I want to finish some other bottles before ). Has anyone already tried it? What can I look for?

...yes, well done Dalmore! First imressions: Sweet, full, quite dense, definitely on sherry side, with notes of orange (which I liked already in 12yo Black Isle).

I recommend.

I will surely pick this up in the near future as the Black Isle is my number 2 whisky! So far I also tasted the new 12y and the Black Pearl but the Black Isle is still my favourite

So can you tell us how the 15y differs?

That's good to know. Can you give a timeframe of how fast? I had quite a few bottles ( 1000cl ) and didn't notice this; normally though the bottles are empty within a few weeks.

I also recently bought a 1 liter bottle for € 42,50 ( last thursday ) and into my 6th or so dram from it as I write this.

Here are my impressions so far :

NOSE : Light on the nose with mostly oranges on the foreground

PALATE : Oranges again but now with nice spicey citrus fruits ( grapefruits for me )

FINISH : Rather short finish ; only the spicey notes stay longer

Overall not so creamy as expected and certainly not as the 12.
It''s more like the Black Pearl but that has more spice and a longer finish.
Adding some water (whisky/water 95/5 or even less ) lesson the impact of the spicey notes and makes it a bit more creamy.

Overall a very nice Dalmore but I do prefer the 12 and especially the 12 Black Isle which still is my favourite Dalmore

The 15 year was the winner of an unplanned tasting session of over 10 various drams at Heathrow wow, with a friend I was travelling with - a complete novice.

Any whisky that can act as such a great introduction to our world has got to be congratulated.

At the Hi Time Event Saturday I had the opportunity to try the 12, 15 and Gran Reserva. I found the 12 to be similar to the older 12 but had a richer sherry component - sweeter, less oaky and malty (along with the oranges and spices already mentioned).

The Gran Reserva is similar to the old Cigar Malt although a little sweeter. (This is based on my first release Cigar Malt)

The 15 is much more elegant but less creamy than the 12. There is some cigar tobacco on the palate too.
