Question on a couple of Ardbegs.

Has anyone had the new Ardbeg "Uigeadail"? Also, if anyone has tried the "Lord of the Isles" I'd be interested in hearing about that also.

Ardbeg is among my Scotch favorites, particularly the 17yr and the 1977. How do these compare??

The "Lord of the Isles" is a stellar malt. Beautifully smokey and peaty, but gloriously smooth, and everything held in balance.

It oozes class, style, and age, without the wood being at all overbearing. A privilege to drink!

agree, lord of the isles is a fine dram!, but i still prefer the 1977...just.

L.O.T.I is a superbly balanced dram, but if you get your hands on some 30yo Ardbeg OB then this is the greatest ardbeg I have tried to date. Apparently the whiskies in the 30 YO are from late 50's early 60's and all the malted barley used was made at the distillery. I am sure glad I bought three bottles of this 5 years ago for 80 GBP each, cause the price is over 200 GBP now! What a joke.

At the festival in Den haag last weekend tasted the new Uigadall. Brilliant!! A mix of about 10y arberg, with the sweet bourbon and the strong peat and about 30y old arberg and about 30y arberg sherry caks! Works very very well One of the best ardbegs i ever had!

Hi all,

I bought the Uigeadail last weekend and couldn't wait to taste it. It is simply superb ! Definitely an Ardbeg. Very smoky nose and taste, with understandably a hint of sherry (10 YO bourbon barrels, mixed with old sherry casks). A remarkable smoothness, given its 54.2 %.
Conclusion : a must for all Islay-lovers.
