Spring/summer whisky

let's talk about spring whiskies, now that those of us on the correct side of the world are entering the warmer season. I enjoy Scapa neat, Glenlivet on the rocks (just in summer), Balvenie for rich leafy evenings.... what else is springy/summery?

Arran, Auchentoshan, Bruichladdich, Caol Ila, Clynelish, Glenfiddich, Old Pulteney... Any of these and quite a few more can work for me in the springtime.

Lightly peated Bruichladdich (bourbon matured) comes to mind, Bowmore (Legend, 12), Bladnoch, Rosebank, Glentauchers (Battlehill bottling was just like a light white wine), HP (bourbon matured), Scapa, Old Pulteney, Balblair (16 ), Talisker (18, 175th, DE). It's the vanillans and floral elements that remind me of spring and summer. However, I still grab my a'bunadh, Ardbeg and Laphroaig during the warm months.

The pear flavors in Scapa are perfect in the summer. Belvenie 10 FR is another great one. On a nice summer evening I like a touch of peat. My new bottle of Eleuthera will probably not make it trough the summer.

When it gets really warm I like bourbon with a little ice, generally something barrel proof so it doesn't get too watered down. When it gets really hot I switch to rum with ice, hunks of grapefruit or lime and a touch of tonic water.

I like Rosebank on a summer evening.

If its hot I usually have a cold beer.

Spring maybe a Caol Ila or a Royal Lochnagar

Dramtastic - do you have these on the rocks also? I find that not to be an abdomination with livet at all. I liked macallan 12 on the rocks - I bet aberlour is nice too- expecially maybe aberlour abunadh, which is cask strength.

No I don't. But I don't class myself as a whisky snob so whatever works go for it.
