There were only about 570 bottles of this produced for the State of Texas. I would highly recommend picking it up if you see it.
Here's my notes:
Highland Park 14yr 56.7% ABV (1991-2006) Bottled from Cask #2310 for the Lone Star State
Color and Pour : Amber, very thick, almost syrupy
Nose: Little or no alcohol tinge despite 56.7% ABV. Honey, caramel, toffee, oranges.
Palate: Honey, oranges, dark chocolate, caramel (like the caramel in a very good chocolate covered caramel candy)
Finish: A little salty with a hint of smoke, medium long finish
Not that I have had THAT many whiskies (maybe 30?) but this ranks very high. Normally I go for the Islay and Talisker, but if you offered me a bottle of Laph 10 CS and this HP it would be a tough choice.
