This Year's Selection just arrived!!

Postby AragornII » Wed Apr 29, 2009 7:21 am

So I'm more of a consumer than a collector. I just received my annual order, which will probably be gone by this time next year (and may seem pedestrian to some, but I love all these Scotches):

2xArdbeg Airigh Nam Beist;
2x Glendronach 1968/25 yr-old;
1xJohnnie Walker Blue Label;
12xThe Macallan 18 yr-old; and
2xTeacher's Highland Cream

All from thewhiskyexchange.com, which has fantastic prices on their whisky
given the current exchange rates.

Awesome! I see you got the "Nam Beist"/Sword gift pack they're offering at TWE. Well played.

Sad but true I'm a creature of habit. I quite like the Teacher's, though, which is good because the macallan is expensive to drink regularly. I bought the Teacher's after reading recommendations on this board, and sampled it thoroughly last night. One thing I notice is that I have a bit of a headache this morning, whereas usually with my SMs I feel pretty good after having a few drams the night before. Is there something about blends that gives you a hangover???

There's more than one way to kill a beast! If I can't drink it to death maybe Anduril will do the trick.

I've found that happens to me sometimes with young blends or bourbons too but i'm not sure why. I suspect it's something to do with the young grain spirit. Perhaps the copper contact of single malts helps purify the spirit to some extent or more sugars are retained in the grain spirit?

Wow - you literally are just right down the street. I don't think my wife would take to random people from the internet showing up at our house, but if you ever want to meet for a dram somewhere just send me a pm. :thumbsup:

A great selection and delighted you were comfortable to share the Teachers selection with us. Top man.

I'll join you in your hut in Fangorn forest for a dram and some old toby :wink:
