When I bought the bottle the salesman said he found the 18 better than the 15. Now I like the 15 very much so this made me even more anxious to try it.
Tasting notes:
Color: deep gold
Nose: complex with smoke, medicinal, grain, some peat, a woody sweetness, some vanilla, some chocolate, and toffee as it gets some sweeter in time
Taste: some smoke, sweet, grainy, toffee pudding
Finish: medium with smoke, some peat, wet leaves
We all agreed that the finish was nice but not as long as we expected.
This is a very fine whisky. Is is better than the 15? In my opinion: Yes!
When the 18 was announced I expected it to be more expensive than the 15. Normally I pay for the 15 around 50-55 euros. For the 18 I paid 82 euros. That's 50% more expensive. Is it worth that difference? I can't say that yet, I have to try some extra drams
