Beltramo's bottlings

Postby pkt77242 » Fri Aug 07, 2009 6:38 am

I just had my first Beltramo's bottling, a HP 1986/2005 19yo CS sherry cask. A very enjoyable whisky. I see that they have two others listed on their website and was wondering what they were like.

Highland park 1990 15yo sherry cask 53.6%

Glenfarclas 1990 15yo sherry cask 47%

I would appreciate any feedback on these. Thank you

The HP 15 is a little sulfury. Better than the Hi-Time cask but not nearly as good as the 19.

Glenfarclas 15 is fantastic. There's a bit of the cherry that I find in the Traverso bottling but not quite as pronounced. This is a better choice than the OB 17.

I would echo what Ganga said about the HPs.

Although the 19yo and 15yo are about the same abv (53.8% and 53.6%), the 15yo seems too heavy handed and does not carry the alcohol that well. The 19yo is much better.
