Notes for High West Rendezvous Rye Batch No.28

My first official online whisky tasting note that I'm particularly proud of. I spent over an hour alone on the nose trying to put all the complexity on paper. I could have spent thirty minutes more just smelling...

So here's my take of this great whisky. I hope you find my notes useful and clear.

High West Rendezvous Rye Batch No.28 46%ABV

Nose

Cooked Orange Blossom Marmalade. Egg Nog. Toffee.
Palate
Medium bodied. Dangerously smooth.
Finish

Well drawn-out warm spice and mace. Vanilla bean.
Comment
Made me salivate for pecan pie next to a warm fireplace on a rainy day. Great for the holidays. Will purchase again!

For the most part I have always enjoyed how food can react to the palate when sipping any beverage. In this case I was winding down with a dram of Rendezvous, Triscuit Crackers with Cream Cheese. One sip left an in-your-face banana cream pie experience on the finish. Gotta love the tongue-to-whisky-to-brain relationship. You never really know how it's going to react, all you can do is hope it's pleasant.
