Here's my notes from this new Glenlivet
Name: Glenlivet 18yo Nadurra 1991 Triumph Barley 48% abv
Color: Lemon gold
Nose: Fresh split oak, fruity (green apples, pears), floral, ginger, citrus zest, dry grass, clay
Palate: Juicy sweetness, mild spice, grassy, peppermint back note
Body: Rich, firm
Finish: Long, soothing balance as it eases away
Notes: Comparing this to my notes on the 16yo Nadurra C/S and the regular 18yo they are definitely in the same family. All the basic profile signposts are there. And since this falls between those two pricewise, I'd say it's worth a try. I'm not sure I see a distinction of the Triumph barley varietal if it wasn't listed on the bottle, but I will probably get a replacement to enjoy down the road since it's a one-off bottling.
With a splash of water: Carnations and new wood aroma; taste is lemon tart with gingersnap crust.
Score: 86
For comparison, my scores for the original Nadurra C/S: 88 and the regular 18yo: 82. The French Oak Reserve is the same as this 1991 Triumph.
The Glenlivet range is unique enough to keep one in rotation, so I just vary the age I have open.
