Balvenie Thirty

Postby Sir Dino » Fri Mar 05, 2010 5:48 pm

I opened my bottle yesterday and it was a great pleasure...

IMHO the perfect whisky... Smooth, mellow... Perfection is the right word.
A perfect marriage of oak casks with sherry cask...

Nose: orange biscuits, honey, sherry, old wood, leather, a hint of smoke, very great depth...
Taste: orange peels and biscuits, mellow, smooth like silk, dark chocolate
Finish: long and warm, sweet and again dark chocolate

IMHO one the best whiskies I ever had... Maybe the best?
I fell asleep with a smile on my face

Sounds like one tasty beverage. Reminds me somewhat of the older Longmorns and Mortlachs that I've tried.

Good lord, that's one hell of a collection you've got there. Sounds like you actually drink them, too. I need a friend like you...

Thank you!
Most of my bottles I have twice. One to drink and one to collect...

Balvenie Thirty is maybe not the best malt I've ever had, but it's perfectly nice. I thought it was very feminine.

I always say there probably doesn't exist a bad Balvenie, but on the other hand they are never sky-rocketing good.

I've had some of the singel barrel 15s that were not very pleasant. Bitter and astringent.
