Tough call here for me, DT.
The Bowmore takes the cake if it's balance, subtlety, degree of complexity and that added input from selective use of Sherry casks that takes priority. Lovely whisky bottled at a perfect age when at its best.
But oh the Caol Ila. Much drier. A switchblade of a whisky! Very appetizing and invigorating. If you add a touch of water, a slight creaminess appears. That said, I really like it as it pours.
