Your top 5 bang for your buck whiskys

You know how it goes, funds are tight but you still want to drink good quality whisky. So what are your top 5 bang for your buck whisky's that are readily available?

Mine would be

Talisker 10
Aberlour 10
Nikka From the Barrel CS
Nikka Pure Malt White
Bailie Nicol Jarvie

That lot would give me a range flavors of peat, smoke, nuts, spice, honey, wood, sherry and fruit to enjoy.

Lagavulin 16: many supermarket deals here

Lagavulin 12 (2004): This really isn't a BFYB dram, but I include it because it is a stellar dram, at a great price, and still readily available (A particular enoteca here bought a ton of the stuff years ago and has kept it at the same selling price). At least for now, it is a BFYB whisky in my neck of the woods.

Laphroaig Quarter Cask

Wilson & Morgan 'Peaty Five': Under 20 euros and provides a great peaty fix.

#6-7 might be Finlaggan and The Ileach. I would have included the Longrow CV and Glendronach 15yo 'Revival' as I think they are very good whiskies at a low price. However, since I can't actually get them here, they couldn't make my list.

Anything around $80ish is usually the breakpoint for "bang for the buck" here.

Glenfiddich 15yr at $68 is pretty good
Craggenmore 12 at $76 is ok
Compass Box Oak Cross for $60 is great!

I would say Ardmore Traditional Cask @ £21 takes a hell of a lot of beating , and to me has its nose in the lead.

Closely followed by Talisker 10.

After these , there is a close packed field all jockeying for position, all great scotches (Too many to mention).

Glenmorangie Lasanta or Aberlour A'bunadh ~$45-50
Lagavulin 16 $65 (or the 18yo CS if you can find it for cheap @$75)

I agree, Knolly, we are paying ridiculous prices in BC. I will now do my shopping at duty free stores or in Alberta. Got a litre of Ardbeg 10 at the border for $48, a litre of JW Green for $46. Got a Laphroig 18 in Portland for $90.

HP 18, BC $149, Alberta $101.
Ardbeg Airigh Nam Beist, BC $135, Alberta $91.50
Almost everything is 20-40% cheaper.
Check out Kensington Wine Market in Calgary, they are online and have a huge selection, tons of stuff we never see in BC. They will take an order, package it up and have Purolator pick it up and deliver to BC.

in beazil is real hard to find single malt whisky.when you find is real espensive,for this evebody here drink blended.i need to imported single malts from europe to prove i make this in next month.at this moment my 5 here in brazil is:

only single malts you can find here is glenffidich 12 years and glenlivet 12 years for 200 r$ you can buy 2 bottle of black label or 4 bottle from teachrs.so i think this is too much money for a normal whisky,and i never tried this i be waiting for a friend coming from spain for buying talisker,lagavulin and highland park to me for 167 r$.

2) Glenfiddich 15YO - not sure about elsewhere in teh world but seems underpriced when I bought on promotion this XMas at £28
3) The Glendronnach 12YO - incredible sherry for less than £30
4) Knob Creek - my favoutire Bourbon which has real flvour - currently £25 at TWE
5) Monkey Shoudler - the quality (if not complexity/finish) of a malt at the price of a blend - £20 ish.

The last Bow Legend was a bit off.

However, the Tamdhu 10 @ $21 is a wonderful dram and the Tomatin 12 is well worth prices under $25. Also should add in the Glenfiddich 15, especially when I find it under $30 and Pulteney 12 @ $30 is very good whisky.
