Hi Everyone,
I've been playing around with different Bourbons and Canadian whiskeys to find the best base for making Manhattan's. Based on recommendations from countless people I'm sorry I didn't try Buffalo Trace to begin with because it is so great for the price. Anyway, my question is this. I noticed that Binny's and Sam's (no longer with us since Binny's bought them) has their own gold label on all the Buffalo Trace bottles I've seen. This was even the case with the 1.75L bottles. Is this just a constant thing and Binny's or Sam's decides/decided what the finally character is like? My concern is consistency, I'm totally happy with the flavor profile I got and don't want it to change. Any thoughts on this? Thanks.
In case your interested here's my perfect Manhattan, no pun intended...
3.0 oz - Buffalo Trace Bourbon (Binny's Hand Picked Selection)
0.5 oz - Noilly Prat "Sweet" vermouth
0.5 oz - Noilly Prat "Dry" vermouth
3 drops - Fees Orange Bitters
1 - Maraschino Cherry, no stem - lanced on a large flat wood pick
stir for 1 minute using just enough ice to allow easy stirring
