I am now living in California, but I am Japanese and I know Nika and Nika Black 8 year that you review.
In my bar in Los Angeles (for Japanese businessman visitting), we sell Nika Black 8 year, and the difference between this and Glenfiddich Habana is not even distant cousins - not twins as you say. I tried Nika Black 8 year, blind tasting against Habana and they are obvious. The Habana has a salt and sharp-tang, an 8 mile finish/ the Nikka is more Nicholas Cage 8mm - immature fake. Sunset hooker. (Naisho, ne? In club in Kabukicho we pass on Nika as Johnie Walker Black. A third of price (wholesale)
