Dominic Roskrow has just been up to Glen Grant for the launch of this special edition. These are his tasting notes for the whisky tasting club.
Nose: Crisp and fresh with trademark clean barley and a squidgy prune and caramel note, some toffee and sweet lemon and citrus fruits.
Palate: Intense, with razor sharp grain cutting through green apples, some lemon, blood orange and banana skin. Sharp but pleasant spicy and earthy finale
Finish: Lengthy, with hints of peat among the fruit and grain, and the odd rich orange and berry note
Conclusion: This is made up of casks from the 70s, 80s and 90s and is proof positive that Glen Grant ages very well and can be a refreshing, uncluttered and pure malt of the highest order.
