Wiser's Legacy

Hi all, Wiser's has a new whisky out called Wiser's Legacy. its pretty expensive at $85 in Ontario. Anyone taste this yet? how does it compare to their 18yo bottle in terms of flavour, how its made and age?

I have no specific information concerning the mashbill, etc. of Legacy. However, according to the assessment of others, this whiskey appears to lean toward the richer, more Bourbon-like and oak-extracted style when compared to most other Canadian whiskies. It also seems that Legacy has been available Stateside since at least early 2009. Not uncommon for the LCBO (and SAQ, for that matter) to drag feet in terms of listing spirits initially marketed south of the border.

By the way, I do like the 18YO.

although this bottle is not shown on Wiser's website, i read that they are saying this Legacy bottle is higher than their 18yo. and I also love their 18yo.

Anyone care to venture an opinion on Wiser's Small Batch. I am thinking about picking it up but would like an opinion as to its quality first.

I've had a good bit of it. It generally gets good grades but my feelings are mixed. It certainly is flavourful with some good burnt sugar notes but I find it lacks the finesse and roundness I usually look for in Canadian whisky. For this reason I prefer it on the rocks to straight up. Around the same price point I'll take Crown Royal or Century Reserve 15. I'll admit that I have enjoyed Small Batch when in the mood for it, but after having a few bottles it's moved down quite a bit on my list. Just my preference.
