Howdy all,
Received it today. I rushed back home from the post office & hardly had time
to take my shoes off before I had a dram in hand!
I had my doubts about this one mostly due to the ABV. Having had one dram, I
must say that this is the best Ardbeg from 1991 that I have (the others
being Douglas McGibbon 9 Yrs and MM 10 Yrs). It has slightly less of the
cocoa note, but it is wonderfully balanced sweetness / "bready" almost
toffeeish malt / peat smoke. It's got a faint hint of citrus on the nose,
quite dryish and softly tarry. Only light-medium body and a glowing sweet
peat finish (not that long, but very nice nonetheless). It seems it benefits
greatly from those extra few years.
I can only dream of what this would taste like at 46 % non-chill filtered.
