Lowland malt?

Hello everybody,
I am a whisky enthusiast for some time now. I have highland-, speyside- and island-single malts in my collection. I would like to add a lowland malt to it, but it is said that lowland malts are less interesting (?).
Can anyone give me a suggestion for a good lowlander? Thanks!

I don't think Lowland Malts are less interesting, just not wild peat monsters like some of the Islay's. Try Rosebank if you can find it although Auchentoshan and Glenkinchie are also very nice. Happy dramming,

Rosebank and Bladnoch are generally my favorites, though good Rosebanks are becoming scarce. '89 Murray&McDavid Rosebank is excellent, as is '90 Signatory. '91 Signatory Rosebank in the 350mL bottle isn't so good. Gordon & MacPhail Connoseurs Choice '88 Bladnoch is excellent.

Glenkinchie 10yo is decent but not great, IMO. When I first had Auchentoshan I didn't like it but I think I may not have appreciated it at the time so I should revisit it.

I really enjoy a good lowlander, especially in the summer. Their tastes are more subtle than a powerful Islay, which I also love, but they are very good in their own way IMO.

Thanks for your answers! Indeed I'm looking for a "light" but tasteful malt, to enjoy especially when the weather is warm!

Light but tasteful look to Rosebank

Bladnoch and Auchentoschen are also excellent. For something more 'exotic' try St Magdelene (rare malts range).

Other I have liked are Glenkinchie for easy drinking

If it's still available, Royal Mile Whiskies cask strength Bladnoch is a gem.

Sigatory 1991 Rosebank is excellent, tasting of raisins and cake and is the palest whisky you'll ever see.

The Flora and Fauna Rosebank is also excellent.

Sam's in Chicago, USA had a MacKillop's Rosebank 1989 cask strength for around $50 when I was there about 2 months ago.
Affordable and very good!
