Bowmore Tasting

Hello all friends of whisky,

I am a newbie to this forum and with whisky, started collecting/drinking whisky in June, 2002. I'm from Joensuu, Finland.

I'm hosting a tasting night for two friends of mine, and the malts we have are Bowmore 12 yo., Darkest, 17 yo. and 21 yo. Which order should I present these? I'm proposing the order from the youngest to the oldest. Should the "best" (i.e. the most expensive) malt be saved last, or would the soft and fragrant 21-year-old expression be overwhelmed by the strong/peaty/medicinal 17 yo.?

My preferred order would be

12
17
Darkest
21

Darkest is in my opinion a better, richer bigger whisky than the 17, and the 21 is certainly the best Bowmore I've had (the cask strength being the least impressive).

Many thanks r0b for your comments. The tasting night was successful, and we all agreed that your preferred order was the order from "worst" to best as well.
