Starting with a Talisker 10yo OB this evening. I forget how good this stuff is, and I wish there were more offerings from this distillery available.

Nothing too exotic, albeit delicious:

I started the evening with a couple of drams of HP 15(always nice).

Further, I just opened a new bottle of Talisker 18-- just lovely! Seems the first few pours of a new bottle is like concentrated flavor; A fresh bottle always seems more flavorful too me.

Cheers,
Joseph

Oh I am having a Napa Valley Meritage - 2005 made by Kirkland (Costco) - Just picked it up. Going to be cooking up some Rib Eye's here in a little bit, and I think this will go well. If not I have a nice Zin in the wings waiting to be tried.

Had a little Laga 16 just a few minutes ago. But I burned my tongue yesterday and am slightly under the weather, so I wasn't really tasting it. Can't stand when that happens!

That's when you drink the cheap! Save the Laga for times when the mouth is fully prepared and ready to go!

Sounds favorable, Gov! I've heard that the McClelland's Highland SM is also a Glen Garioch.

The Dalwhinnie 15 is nice, but I think that I've decided its taste is a little too honey-rich for me. Not one that I will likely make one of my mainstays.

Thats good advice. I will be smoking a cigar or pipe tomorrow and no good SM's for me. Smoke kills the taste to much. Gee I am getting to be a damn snob!

Bruichladdich 15yo second edition right now. Getting lots of bananas and a trace of peat. So far it has been much better than last time I had it. Last time it tasted sort of waxy but I can't detect any of it this time

I am house and dog sitting for a friend so I brought over a bottle of Glenfiddich 18 to pop open. Poured a large glass, and it is a pretty nice beverage, though I may like the 15 Solera Reserve more.

I awoke early this morning and I am still rather tired, but I will have to start moving soon as I have a full day in the pub today.

So I guess it's about 07:15 now and time for ....... TEA

Lohs.... I also think I prefer the Solera.

finishing tonight with an Elijah Craig 18yo. The first few times I found this to be a very good whiskey but tonight it is amazing. I am getting Cherry and orange to start with and a great finish of vanilla and wood. Much sweeter than the last couple of times I have had this. Maybe it is because I had the Bruichladdich first? Good night or good morning depending on where you live.

MT...thanks for the feedback. I will definitely have to compare the two at home for further thoughts.

I just poured myself a bit of the Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban in his cabinet, and I like it just as much as I remember.

To be honest I'm not usually a bigfan of Glenfiddich, but I do like the 18y and the Solera. Also the original Havana Reserve is pretty good.

As for the newly packaged Glenmo's; I haven't tried them and I'm not in a hurry to do so.
(But that's just between LVMH and me).

Onto the Plowed Ellen , the sulphur that disagreed with me when i tried it in the past has subdued a bit but still not my kind of sherried whisky unfortunately.....

Edit : Water seems to calm it down more....

I am not up for drinking yet, but in honor of Mr Fjeld...

-> Løiten Linie Aquavit (40.5%, sample from Mr Fjeld)

It starts out as a light Lemon oil on the nose (btw the color is a bright light yellow). In the US I would say it is like a lemon Pledge furniture spray (which is a good smell). The initial taste of it gives a light peppery sensation across the palate with the citrus flavors following it, nice effect. There is almost a touch of pine needles in the second taste with a touch of oily mouth feel. It finishes just about all in the mouth with a nice lingering of cooked lemons.

Overall a great regional beverage. Many thanks Christian....

No Nick, life isn't that beautifull.
this isn't the 21yo but a NAS bottling, I asked for a 6yo. I think this one is replaced by the 6yo I received today.
You'll taste this one soon...

Having a Linie Aquavit:
nose: anis over oak.
mouth: anis, liquirice and lemon, quit round, reminds me of Becherovka, but Aquavit is milder. Sali?
finish: pepper with lots of lemon, like Dubro(lemon soap).
Thanks agains Christian.

I agree with that. A Norwegian former colleague of mine brought a bottle in many years ago and we worked our way through it over several afternoons after work. Great memories.

I'm having an Ardbeg 10 right now, because Gordon mentioned Kildalton and it got me thinking South Shore. :D
