Ardbeg Nearly There

Thanks for the tip Les. I've just ordered my bottle from the distillery website (£29.99 as stated) - however the postage (for recorded delivery seemed cheaper than i remember at only £4.50 special delivery!!

Hopefully it will arrive next week!

Sweden got over 1200 bottles of the 'Still Young'. We drink alot of single malt here. One of four bottles of whisky sold in Sweden is a single... Compared to one out of ten in the rest of the world.

It's not that much when you break it down , 12 Bourbon Barrels ? Seeing that Ardbegs Production for that year was probably around 800,000 litres .

I'm still curious what the total production was for the VY, Sy and AT, when I asked the distillery about the VY they said 6000 bottles, does anyone know what it was for the SY and the new AT

As they are still selling the Still young I'm sure that their will be plenty for everyone. May be a run on it when its first released then it will settle down.

Hi there,

not so. Very Young and Still Young are no longer bottled. What is being sold of those is limited stock that the reailers have left over. When they are gone there will be no more. The Almost There is limited, too.

I think that's what Les means. They are still selling it, although it's no longer being made. In the same way, Amost There will still be on sale for a good while after they stop producing it.

Glenmorangie has been sold out of ASY for some time and AVY for even longer. I know as I wanted to order more but was too late and that was months ago! All that is left is what is in stores. Even the Ardbeg Shop is a retail store so it having stock left does not mean the distillery is making it or even that the big Glenmo warehouses in Glasgow have any left. What is on the shelves is all there is of Very Young and Still Young (sorry to be repetitive).

Thank you Aidan that's what I had in mind. Not that they are still making STILL YOUNG. But that it is still available a year after its release. I expect the same will be with ALMOST THERE.

Hi Len at ardbeg shop its £29.99. At LFW its £29.90.

I got mine at LFW along with some other necessary items.

According to rumors there will be more than 6000 bottles out of this bottling. As told earlier, Sweden alone will have 2400 bottles - to start with! So no need to panic over not getting one. Still Young is still available in Sweden as well...

That must be right that would mean only 3,600 for the rest of the world. I think that there will be more. How much more, if someone knows perhaps they might say.

I phoned and asked how many bottles are there? The woman I spoke to wasn`t sure so she asked someone else at the distillery .The answer was its a crack botteling and they didn`t bottle it here she said .
I didn`t get much wiser by that so, I have no idea what a crak bottling is.

Anyone?

I don't believe Ardbeg bottles anything on site but Spirit of Islay likely knows for sure. I think it is all hauled out to the mainland to be bottled in Glasgow.

Did she say a "crack bottling" or a "cracking bottling"? Or a "cracker"? "Cracking" and "cracker" in slang means something good. "Crack" can be good but often is not though I imagine the Ardbeg shop would be putting a good word in! I sure hope it's good, have a few cases coming in

Even Joynson from LFW didn't dis this one. :wink:

"Almost There" was to be renamed "Almost Sensible" however this, even for me, deserves less ridicule as it "Very Close to Being Wonderful" Ardbeg... Soft peaty but finally the depth and complexity is coming through, 'bout time too... Certainly an ace, more comment in the next few days. But buy now!

I'm headed to Germany in a month to meet up with Maltteaser and go to the Limburg Whisky festval so I'm waiting to pick some up there, but if all else fails I will order it from RM.

One difference between crack and Ardbeg is that people sympathize with crack addicts but can't understand why we drink something that tastes like burning plastic, ash and tarry rope. :roll:

Di Blasi if its not being released yet in Norway, can you not buy from the UK.? It was released here on Monday.

Speaking of which I had a happy accident in MY bottling hall the other day. I "accidentally" added some very rare common or garden Ardbeg 10 to a dram of even rarer common or garden "Glen Darbach", M&S's "Speyside" malt which wa given to me for my birthday.

Not a bad dram on its own, but with the Ardbeg added, even better! And when compared "dram to dram" with "Serendipitydoo", I'm afraid to say it was far more...um...let me find the correct word here...ENJOYABLE, that's it!

Re: "Almost Grown", we're driving past Oddbins today and I'll be taking a hopeful pitstop, despite protestations from mother and babe! Can't wait...

Wow Corbuso. That's a huge amount. Not doubting you for one minute. How do you know this? and you say first batch. So does that mean there are more batches of Almost There to come?
