I was starting to get worried about my Supernova's, the money for them has only just gone out of my account today. Grrr :x

Yeah, my first Supernova arrived last Friday and then the other Supernova and a Blasda arrived on the Saturday morning. I bit weird i suppose as they would have sent them out together!

This is all my contact knows...

'Ok, just confirmed 4 SuperNova so far. Price is estimated between 120-150 US. No Canadian allocation. I am going to try and get some. Park Avenue called back and said the sales person did not know there was one per customer. I have three shops in New York with my name on their list and the San Fran shop K&L Wines where we got the First Born Laddie has two for me'.

Why are there seperate allocation for the US? Why not sell worldwide on a first come first served basis?

Marketing tactics... create a feeling of scarcity and everyone will want it and have to have it.... they just have to hope that the hype will last until the full release (which it probably will)

Distilleries are not allowed to send the bottles through the post (don't think shops are legally either....) , they have to go through the 3 tier system i believe . That's why there is a separate allocation for the USA .
That's why the SMWS has a separate Section in the USA as well .
Supposed to go through an official importer .
I believe the US Govt is to blame for this .

Not so, SoI - you should know better!

It's all down to marketing tactics dreamed up by the evil geniuses at Ardbeg, who (of course) have unlimited supplies of the stuff to ship merrily around the world, but have cunningly hidden the lot in a cave on Staffa, away from prying Ardbeggian eyes..

Or so I've been told. :smoke:

Hey, I missed out on the Supernova :( (my own silly fault), but if anyone is feeling like 2 bottles is to much for them to handle I would happily take one off there hands!!!

Worth asking no?

Would happily pay a little over what was paid, really keen to try...

Thanks

Cheers SOI, that makes sense although I don't remember this being done with the Corry, or was it?
I like the tasting notes on your site, sounds like a tasty drop.
If you had to choose between this and the Corry which would you go for?

This is the first time it's been done , all the hassle of getting passed the US laws meant it wasn't worth their while but they decided to go for it on this one (American Committee members requesting it so much ?) . Quite a few distillers don't release bottles in the US because of the requirements to import , heard it referred to as a right pain in the Arse in some quarters.....

Hard to choose one ! i'll let you know when i've drank a little bit more SN....

Indeed. Not mine though - I'm keeping that for when I have a slot to open it!

(It's a rather sad story behind it though...)

I should say "keeping those" as I have two! One will stay in the collection, one will get opened at some point.
