How did we cope at the end of 2000 when they released the 2392 and 2394 as the committee bottling with a combined total of less than 1000 Bottles ?

Hopefully there won't be because there aren't enough mugs around? Hopefully the penny will drop that whereas rare old vintage cask bottlings are genuinely rare & limited & therefore will retain value ( as well as taste stunning), distillers like Ardbeg and B'laddich can endlessly spin off young unaged bottlings with fancy names every few weeks .... like Renaissance and Corryvreckan and Blasda and Supernova and then we've got Wonderbeg coming up in March and on and on.

No doubt some lemmings will stampede but there is such a thing as a law of diminishing returns, and, to quote Dragon's Den, I'M OUT! .

I'm one mug who is going to try and buy one for my collection, but I reckon it would be too young and too peaty for me to drink. Ardbeg's marketing is really good and it has JMWB backing it, so for a collector its a good bet.

Personally I think a Laga 16YO is a better dram than "the most complex malt on earth" (the Ardbeg 10YO according to Jim). (I know I am a mere mortal and Jim is a whisky god.)

So I found it hard to understand when I went to the Laga distillery that there was no cafe and a pretty poor shop, whereas Ardbeg had both and they were pretty good. The Laga owners obviously don't know how good their whisky is......or else they think it is so good it doesn't need marketing.

Can anyone tell me if the prices listed on the website are inclusive of VAT i.e. is the Supernova 65 gbp plus VAT or is VAT included in this?

That will be inlcuding VAT, shipping wwas £8.20 i think.

I got order number 117xx. I heard someone who got order number 109xx earlier this morning. That would mean 800 orders already at 9:51 am?
With many people ordering 2 bottles they seem to be going fast now…

Well order 10968 was at 9:00 and 12051 at 10:45, so thats >1000 orders excluding telephone orders. I expect it's like Corry - they've taken it off for a count up. Though at 2 bottles per order that would be about it.

Yes i would say you will def get your order, however it may take some time.

The last committee release limited to 5000 (one per person) took ages for them to get them out the door, mine took about 5 weeks to arrive.

Klas you're right. Just a suggestion if you missed out, go for the Cashmere Scarf instead. @ £74.95 it will keep you warm and smart.

I tried doing it on my PC but the same thing was happening! I told him it was probably to much traffic and to try at lunch! He is gonna go mental

Thats why I'm not too concerned and tbh I didn't think it would sell out so fast because there would be a general release later. But thats besides the point, he missed out so he's gonna blame me!

Yeah, due to volume, Les the genius found a way around it. I reckon the bottle will appear on the site again, it will be 'sold out' too allow them to take stock.

Like others here...very interested in the Supernova...Have been trying frustratingly since the early hours to get an order through from the UK.
About 10.30am I emailed them - see below
As soon as I did this, they removed the basket ordering....So I guess they have eventually cottoned on at last.

Wow is it gone already? My mate rang me this morning and said he couldn't order it through the website as it kept getting stuck at the bit where you pick the country! It was doing that for me as well. I picked another country first and then the page loaded to select postage, i pressed the back button and it then allowed me to change my country to the UK, the next page loaded automatically and then i could select correct postage and order went through.

Just been on the Ardbeg website and it says the Supernova is completely SOLD OUT......and it will be on general release in May.

This of course won't be a limited release Committee bottling and should cost a bit less....or will it ?

Yes, that appears to be the workaround. I found that from Les but I'd already got throug on the phone and talked to a very nice lady who took my order. No order number though!

I tried that as well and I couldn't get that to work!

The only success I had was ordering from another country (any country worked other than UK!....Even Afghanistan!!!)....Once in I then manually changed the details to UK...even though I now had the option of 1st class postage as opposed to airmail...They still wanted to charge me £43 for postage (2 bottles) which was the same price as airmail.
That is when I decided to email them.

I got through to a gentleman who seemed very nice at 09:46. I was assured I made it in time

I got two bottles one for myself and one for my brother. He is a massive Ardbeg lover so it will be a good present

Count your lucky stars if you managed to order a bottle of Ardbeg Supernova because this very limited test launch to the Committee went off like a rocket and has already sold out.

Those members that have secured a bottle are encouraged to share their good fortune with others not so lucky, to allow them also to savour the deep earthy peat oils, smoky coal tar and rolling tobacco, all balanced with camomile, cedar and heather bloom.

Let me see. £65 to buy, at least £8 postage - e paid at least £73 for it and sold it at £71. Hmmm....
