Bowmore 1964 Fino cask

I've bought a Bowmore 1964 Fino cask, 3 months ago.
The capsule of the bottle is waxed...
Is this normal?
I've also got a Bowmore 1957 in my collection, ans the capsule isn't waxed. (there's a plastic foil around it)
I've never seen pictures of a waxed Fino cask on the internet...

Could you post a picture ... be interesting to see what exactually you mean.

I have not seen it much in full size bottles but it has been common practice for mini collectors to do it themselves.

What is on ebay?
I have seen a few fake Bowmore from that period sold recently to ebay. Would you have a picture of the capsule?
Either it is a fake or the bottle came from a collector who waxed the capsule in order to avoid evaporation...

May be worth getting in touch with Bowmore themselves. I know Bowmore will seal bottles with wax for collectors at the Auchtoshan site and give authenticity to the fact that they have done so.

I haven't bought it on ebay, I've bought it on "www.worldwidespirits.de"
They could have done it themselves for shipping the bottle... I think... hope...
I've send an email to ask them.
I'll try to make/send a picture...

I am fortunate enough to have the set of the three in this series: Fino, Oloroso, and Bourbon. I sampled the Fino at a tasting event. It was comparable to the recent Black Bowmore 42 y, even a little better. I purchased them from reputable shops in Alberta, Canada. Non of the bottles have a wax seal.

I also have a 1964 fino, I bought it around 7 years ago and it does not have wax on it. May I ask how much you bought it at? Thank you.
