Collection Milestone

Postby r900p » Wed Apr 29, 2009 4:43 pm

Well i did it, finally ended up with 150 bottles in the collection. I didn't however see it coming and i'm not sure which bottle it was, it was either

1)Arran - The Peated One
2)Bruichladdich Homecoming Valinch
3)Bruichladdich Pluznik 60th Birthday bottling.

I was planning on a special bottle like that Tali Sea Chest but as its been and gone now i don't suppose it matters.

So i updated the list in excel last night, only to open it today to find the gremlins have been at it, whether i find the time to do a list again i'm not sure as its taken absolutely ages. If anyone had any idea what happened i posted a bit of it in the bar.

Anyone else hit any milestones? I know the collectors are a little reluctant of coming out these days, bu thought i'd ask.

Good work Rob. I'm very pleased for you. Knowing what you collect you must look on some of your bottles with great fondness.

I've just passed the 90th bottle with 3 Port Ellens...and number 92 is on its way...a Linkwood 1975 from the rare malt series (it's really a wonderful dram..I know because I have one open :P ...and I'm glad to have found its twin ;))

Slainte,

I remember years ago when I passed the 200 bottles sealed mark... It was a large package from Germany... so it was not a single bottle purchase. I have been hovering in the 220 range, but I don't think that I have passed the 250 bottle mark at anytime (maybe). I slowed down when I realized that I might have more beverage than time in my life to drink them... and I want to drink them...

There are other drinking milestones... but that is a different thread.

Oh, another collection milestone was when I spent over:

200USD for a bottle - Springbank 30yo
1000USD for a bottle - Springbank 50yo
2000USD for a bottle - Bowmore Black (final edition)

Cheers,

Hey Rob...I emailed you the sheet you sent me last year. Maybe that can help!

As for OCD, ask Mikeymad about my Ardbeg problem...hehe.

Congrats you poor sick and obsessive individual :D
I'm almost at 100 unopened myself so I'm not toooo far behind - I'm not really sure if that's a good thing though.....

Hmmm, and some may think it's impulsive - most of my buys are impulse anyway

I suppose that as long as you have your bottles catalogued and in some semblance of an arrangment on your shelves, the collection must be considered to be in order. Perhaps the cataloguing and arranging thing may be an indication of an obsession with order but it does refute any predeliction towards disorder.

So, both of you are right and I guess that means that OCD is a misnomer 8) Impulse works for me (and it hints at a dalliance with disorder) :D

Anyway, congratulations on your milestone Rob.

Yep we're definately short on variety here, but that's probably a good thing for the bank balance. :)
