I suspect the general release although someone may get lucky.

I have asked Ardbeg to clarify.

The one pictured on the Ardbeg shop is the general release and it will be priced at £79.95.

I'm a bit surprised at the price, as LFW, RMW and TWE were all selling it at or around £73, but they are all now sold out!!

Is this release going to be a permanent addition or a relatively limited run like the "**** Young" series?

According to the distillery there will be 18,000 bottles released and when its gone, its gone!

Does anyone else think it is strange that the 3 major whisky shops in the UK have already sold out of Supernova, especially as there is 18,000 bottles of it??

From other postings it seems that Ardbeg have been careful to ensure that european countries get their fill this time. So it's possible that although there are 18,000 bottles worldwide there may be more like 3000 in UK, which would put it as limited as the original SN.

Or you could see it as another way to boost sales - make it look like there's a real shortage (hence the limits on purchase) and drag out the supply. Isn't 18000 about the same as Blasda, which is also 'limited'? And that's still on general release with no limits on supply - so maybe it's just a clever marketing spin?

Personally I go for the latter - if it was on general release without the limits would people be buying case loads? Not according to the Blasda model.

My friends Dad is the managing director of Glenmorangie. When it was released a few weeks ago i asked him via text.

'Hey. could you ask your dad if he knows if the current release of ardbeg supernova is a one off or if there releasing more?'

and i was giving a reply saying

'Nah its a new brand.'

My friend doesn't have a clue about whisky so i'm positive he asked his dad and got that reply.

Wait a minute...did I read this right? The free mini that comes with TWE orders is an Ardbeg Supernova? Or are you just saying that if you order a Supernova 70cl from TWE, you'll also get a free mini of "something"?

Thanks,
Jeff

I read it as - a surprise mini of anything when an order of something is made.

Talking of TWE, I have just noticed they now have a special dedicated area to their IBs on their website which is interesting. I was wondering when this was going to happen.

on another note it says at the bottom of the box and the bottle....

"This is a limited release, previously discussed (at length) with the ARDBEG Committee - the true heroes of ARDBEG'S meteoric rise to peaty power"
