Hello again, all, and my thanks to those who have patiently corresponded on this bunch of bottlings, only to wait. And wait. And wait some more. Apologies are in order for my taking so long to get this first lot compiled and put out for comment; next time, I'll wait until all the scut work is done before Posting.
A footnote: When I was first enlisted to do this, I have to admit that the chance to handle someone else's Whisky collection excited me, and I naively believed it would be a fun, 'easy' way to see rare bottles, and maybe even earn a few nice bottles for myself. Ha ! Between the travel to & from the owner's storage, being away from family in the evenings, pissing off my wife, trying to extract practical prices from the owner (who has blurted repeatedly that he "effing well HATES selling" his beloved drams, duplicates or no), pecking with one finger, and juggling regular work & minimal sleep, my experience to date has demonstrated nothing could be further from the truth. Something for nothing, as my Da tried long and hard to convince me, simply doesn't exist. Which proves once more that he was alot smarter than I ever gave him credit for.
And so --- here are the first 70 of 225 bottles or so that I've been able to unpack, write a brief description of, and place on Collector's Corner. They run the gamut, yeah ? I've no control over that, I just unpack boxes as I get to them in the storage room. Quite alot of my time has been put into researching prices, and given completed auctions/shop prices high & low/Buy-it-Now or 'Asking' prices/select London retailer prices (ah, I divided prices shown by 2, and occasionally 3, on this last source...), I think these prices quite fair; feel free to comment if you think otherwise but, please, show me examples of ready availability in the marketplace, at said lower prices, rather than just throw stones. The prices shown reflect what seems to be in line with comparative bottles that have been sold in various, global venues recently, less 15% to 20%, or more.
..................................................................................................
Given the difficult times we're all struggling through just now, I know I'll take flak for including this, but I've specifically been asked to include it:
This first lot of Whisky bottlings, at the prices shown below, tots up to $25,460[USD]. This entire, initial Listing can be purchased outright for a total of $19,500[USD], should anyone have a mind to build a collection from it and/or have an eye toward potential resale. If such a Buyer, one that is both willing & able, steps forward to make a lot purchase, he/she should know that the owner will split the actual, Insured delivery costs to that buyer's chosen shipping destination.
Also, please note that while the owner warrants every bottling to be 'correct', without exception, and will be happy to aid any & all Buyers in the unlikely event of damage, breakage, loss, or seizure, these risks are undertaken by & shall remain the sole burden of the Buyer; once any or all of these bottles are given over to the Insured delivery system, the original owner's obligations with regard to the overall transaction end there.
..................................................................................................
Finally, I can do photos of specific bottles on request, within 24 hours or so of your request, and will post bottles worldwide from the Eastern US at exact cost, no packing or handling fees. Please PM with any & all enquiries. The next List of bottles, expected to be 75 to 100 in number --- and just as varied in content --- will Post here by the weekend of 09-10/05/09.
..................................................................................................
If you are that uncommon individual who fancies a bulk purchase, might I suggest that you please get in touch ASAP, as a few of the "best" bottles in this 1st batch will hopefully be getting multiple enquiries in fairly short order. Thanks to all for having a look !
