Old Suntory Japanese Whiskey 86 Proof

I have a bottle of Old Suntory Japanese Whiskey that has been sitting in my liquor cabinet since the 70's.

I looked it up on http://www.vintagewinegifts.co.uk/acata ... _4116.html and found that it is selling for 699.97 British pounds in the UK. Could that be right?

I am in the US and the conversion to USD is amazing. I don't know whether to open it or sell it!

Nobody will pay that much for a blend from the 50's unless it is (with documented proof) from the first production and in some way special (signed by the distiller, ect). And even then, doubtful it would sell for more than a few hundred dollars. That shop is just fishing for a rich sucker. Your bottle, if it is from the 70's, was mass produced and is not worth much more than the current version. The one Old Suntory I tried was awful.
