Old Grandad 114 barrel#1 bottle#6

Postby troyboy8102 » Thu May 28, 2009 11:19 am

Before my granfather passed away in 1995 he gave me a collector's bottle of Old Grandad 114 proof, the label says the whisky is from barrel #1, bottle #6.
The bottle is in mint condition and never opened, it has been wraped in a black cloth from the first day he purchased it, can anyone give me a idea of what it might be worth.

Is that "Barrel" #1 or "Lot" #1?
Lot #1 lasted for several years, and isn't all that rare. I can't recall ever seeing an OGD 114 with a "barrel" designation.
Also, does it have a bar code and, if so, what is it? If it begins '88076', it's later Jim Beam product. Original OGD, made by National Distillers, will have a bar code beginning '86259'.
The bad news is that none of them is worth much of premium over today's shelf price -- which is c. $25 per 750ml.
