It says "Bidding has ended for this item." Maybe they'd charge even more if the bottle was broken... :headbang:

I suspect this will be filled with some rubbish blend and resealed and then sold for an astronomical amount!

Watch for a unopened Macallan Gran Reserva on Ebay in the next couple of weeks!! :D

What other reason would there be for buying an empty bottle? Anybody? Do people collect empty bottles?

I collect empty bottles, but only ones that I've consumed, perhaps I'll get rid of them eventually, but I sorta like being able to go back and check a date for comparison if I have the same one twice.

I can't ever imagine spending 73 GBP for an empty bottle though.

eBay rules mean that all whisky sales have to have the following on the listing:

The value of the auctioned item is in the collectible container, not its contents.
The container has not been opened but any incidental contents are not intended for consumption.

Which should mean that any buying an empty or full bottle is just interested in the bottle

It also means that if the winner of the empty bottle of macallan gran reserva does just fill it with tea and resell it they will not be doing anything wrong

Scary huh!

If he can do the trick to fill it without opening it - you are right.

I read that as they would not have opened it but I now see how it should be thought of. Equally if they reseal it then they can claim that they have not opened it since resealing?
