Longrow 1987-2002 Samaroli

Hey guys,

I need a little help here. I'm looking to buy a Longrow 1987 Samaroli. Can somebody tell me how it tastes? Is it worth buying or not? Also, I've seen this bottle in a few online shops but the prices go from 175 Euro to 250 Euro. Is this difference in price normal? I mean, can the seller basically ask whatever he wants because it's a very limited bottle? Thanks in advance for your help.

I can´t help you with tastingnotes, but Serge has tried it surely, so check whiskyfun.com.
I´ve just some infos for you:
Some maltheads handle these bottles like a legend, I´ve heard it should be the best longrow of all, but I don´t know wether it´s true.
Be careful with buying, because there are at least 2 versions of this longrow, one bottled at 45% abv, the other is in caskstrength somewhere above 50%, maybe 58%, I´m not sure.
The caskstrength is rated higher than the other. And remember there are still whiskyfakers at work in italy, well, there are perfectly correct people too, so have a close look at your seller.

Thanks peat-chaser. I will check with Serge Valentin. I found one bottle from a seller whom I fully trust (Good Whisky House Italy) but the other one is new to me. You're right about these whiskyfakers in Italy. I found out the hard way. I'm prepared to pay more from a serious seller than from one I don't know much about.

The prices you are mentioning are quite correct indeed. Since this product is discontinued, some shops might have increased the price more quickly than others.
