Asked for the price of a 1979 RM St Mag yesterday in Royal mile whisky.

It was £430, looks like you got a good deal at £200.
Anyone know of one for sale in UK around £200.

Ha ha... my entire whisky hobby has probably been less than $6-7k... including all the ones that have since been flushed...

By the way... do you open all of your Vintages, or collect them and keep them sealed?

I have and have had some duplicates I've opened. I have 17 Vintage casks sealed and 3 open at the moment. My collection includes things like all the 17 yo limited editions, The 14yo editions, The Rose, Cask 1992, Golden Cask, Signature Batch #1, a Monkey Shoulder Batch 27 and some odds and ends too. most of which I have had opened at one time or another but have sealed ones socked away too. I count all three of the Hazelwoods even though they aren't Balvenies.

This reminds me of a recent ebay auction in the US where the seller wanted to sell a collection of 12 Laphroaig 40 yo for $30,000 USD. I thought it would make much more sense to sell them off individually. What I found odd about the US listing is that it encouraged direct email with the seller (outside of ebay) and stated that the buyer has to pay cash or direct money transfer into his bank account.
