Value of a birthday bottle

Postby brucef » Fri Mar 12, 2010 5:16 pm

When my sister was born in 1948, my dad received a bottle of Clan MacGregor Blended Scotch Whisky. Imported 100% Scotch Whiskies. The back says it was Distilled and Blended in Scotland and is 80 proof. It was imported and bottled by Popper Morson Corp of Jersey City, New Jersery. It is in a green bottle with a red cap still sealed. and is 4/5 of a quart

Since he didn't drink,he saved the bottle and I still have it. Is there any value to it or is it just inexpensive whiskey.

Unfortunatley it is worth about as much as a current bottle of Clan Macgregor, which is to say about $15. Blends don't really appreciate in value. I say find a special occasion (maybe your sister b-day) and open it up.

I agree. You may get an extra few dollars from a curious whisky fan but its unlikely to be much and probably isn't worth the effort to get it.
