Yes. I was lucky and got a sample from a friend.
To me it is no big surprise. It actually tastes like a young heavily peated Ardbeg which is not bad at all but I like the Corryvreckan better und find it much more interesting.

Share the same opinion. The Supernova tasted good, but I like the Corryvreckan more. Just managed to buy another one... :D

Impressive collection Leorin!

Here's a survey of what I've got, with the rest in a reply, since 5 is the maximum of attachments allowed.

The Harrod's 5YO blend and BNJ are NOT to my liking :yuk:

Oh, and the 2004 George T. Stagg is :dead: Finished it off a few weeks ago :empty:

The Tullibardine is a "John Black's Selection Single Cask Edition" distilled in 1987, bottled in June of 2006 from cask 664, bottle 132 of 284, 57.2% alc./vol. I got to visit there December 29, 2006 when I was in Scotland for Hogmanay in Edinburgh (was escorted by Ms. Misako Udo and a fellow Japanese tour-guide who played chauffeur for us).

I HAD to visit Tullibardine because I attended and graduated from Blackford High School (closed since 1991) which was part of the Campbell Union High School District in San Jose, California :D

Here's the remainder, minus a few unopened miniatures probably for the late 1960's/early 1970's (IW Harper, Yellowstone, and a Black and White) and the few tequilas I have. :D

I haven't opened the Knappogue Castle 1994, HP 18, Buffalo Trace, Redbreast, Hogshead (from Edgefield Distillery in Troutdale, Oregon, part of the McMenamin's chain of brewpubs/restaurantshttp://www.mcmenamins.com/) nor The Smooth Sweeter One, but I HAVE opened both Black Bottle 10YO :headbang:

The Cardhu is sitting atop a Crown Royal Cask 16 (very tasty, that!), just thought I'd mention.

I have single malt to drink, to collect, and to invest. There is a wide assortment. My palate can enjoy expensive or very inexpensive selections. In my shy ostentatious manner, I will list the outrageously extravagant purchases, the series, and discontinued whiskies. There are only a couple of them that I have not tasted. The rest I bought and tried or was fortunate enough to be able to taste them at a tasting event.

Nice display, Danzer. Where did you buy the Lagavulin 21 and 25? I do not think I have seen it in Canada.

I have had fun strolling along the Royal Mile in Edinburgh and popping into various whisky shops.

I thought the Royal Mile Whisky Shop would be a bit larger but it was fun, all the same. The more rare bottles are displayed along the wall on top shelves rising to the ceiling and are difficult to examine.

The Scotch Whisky Experience beside Edinburgh Castle was very nicely arranged. I purchased the Ardbeg Renaissance to complete my set of the Very Young, Still Young and almost There. Also, I bought the Airgh Nam Beist. I have not seen this one in Canada. I tasted it when a friend brought a bottle back from the UK. I really liked it.

I have room for more bottles. It is a never ending search. This is so much fun!

Amazing! You might want to send your list and photos to Alistair Walker at Benriach. They, too, would be impressed, I think.

Have you a favourite?

Just returned from Scotland. I love it over there. Perhaps it would be a nice place to retire. Not sure how to retire as I keep spending money on this wonderful hobby.

I brought back:

Ardbeg Renaissance (to complete the series) x 2 bottles
Ardbeg Airigh Nam Beist x 2 bottles
Ardbeg Supernova x 3 bottles
Glenmorangie 30 year (I think Jim Murray panned this one) x 1 bottle
SMSW Society bottling of a 41 year Glenfarclas x 1 bottle

Ardbeg 17 year x 1 bottle
Benromach 18 year x 1 bottle
(These last two I purchased 4 years ago via a friend in England and was only now able to pick them up.)

I had to buy an extra piece of luggage to bring back the 11 bottles. When I declared them at Canada Customs, I was surprised at how little duty I had to pay (none were from duty free shops). Do not tell them that!

The aluminum luggage I had purchased prior to the trip took a beating. Before I left, they looked like works of art. Now, they are dirty, scraped and dented. I am sure one of the baggage handlers looked at them and said "Oh, these look expensive and new. How can I annoy the owner who is so pretentious to have purchased these bags? Yes, I'll see how many dents it will take." Actually, the "travelled" look is ok.

I see that some prefer the Ardbeg Corryvreckan to the Supernova. I have not opened my Supernova, yet. Do not have a Corryvreckan :( .

I would love to add an Corryvreckan to my collection...at least one to drink now (and one for later?). Anyone know how to get one of these?

ah, you sound like youve had an encounter with the genius baggage handlers at edinburgh airport.

i was coming back into edinburgh airport last year and a crowd of us witnessed the morons actually throwing cases from the cargo hold to the luggage cart things below, then instead of getting another cart for more cases, they were jumping on cases to make then fit into small gaps left by other cases on the carts.

yes, it take a special person to clearly get so much job satisfaction as them.

Alistair is impressed. He has gotten the photos. He was invited to the tasting but had to go to a wedding so Alan McConnochie (Distillery Manager) came instead. He too was impressed.

There are several favourites. The 1968's and 1976's are really good. Especially 76 for Le Maison de Whisky and for Craigellachie Hotel. The 1980 Virgin Oak CS is really good too. I also like the peaty ones like the Curiositas (bang for buck) and the Authenticus.
And of course the 40 year old is very good too, but far to expensive for drinking purposes.
