I see that some prefer the Ardbeg Corryvreckan to the Supernova. I have not opened my Supernova, yet. Do not have a Corryvreckan .

I would love to add an Corryvreckan to my collection...at least one to drink now (and one for later?). Anyone know how to get one of these?

As you can see I don't usually have multiple bottles from a single distillery as beng a newbie I am trying as many distillerys and styles of whisky as possible, though faves like Laga 16 are repeat purchases.

Thanks PJ. I bought the 25th at a local shop in Amsterdam, there are still some available at 225 euro. The 21st on whisky auction. Paid a bit more than i wanted to but after seeing all the postings here on the quality i had to have one..looking for another one btw.

The Benriach 1976 for La maison du whisky is indeed the best one they bottled untill now.

OMG, wolpertinger! That is an extraordinary list. Is Glenmorangie the only one you collect or do you have long lists from other distilleries?

Is the 25 year old the new 25 year Anniversary bottle? If it is and you have opened it, how does it taste? I have one but have yet to open it.

I have other bottles but I am not passionate with them. I mainly use them as trading material for my beloved Glenmos.

Regarding your question for the 25yo - it is the old one.
I started to collect in 2006 and decided that I will not buy any bottling that will be released after that. Whatever Glenmorangie fills into bottles since then will not be part of my collection. IMHO the distilleries started to milk the collectors in an unseemly way. I rather give my money to a fellow collector than to support those insane prices for new bottles aimed for the collectors "market".

I have single malt to drink, to collect, and to invest. There is a wide assortment. My palate can enjoy expensive or very inexpensive selections. In my shy ostentatious manner, I will list the outrageously extravagant purchases, the series, and discontinued whiskies. There are only a couple of them that I have not tasted. The rest I bought and tried or was fortunate enough to be able to taste them at a tasting event.

There are others but I have to finish packing. I am very lucky to be going to Scotland tomorrow. I will be spending most of my time in Edinburgh and surrounding area. It will be so much fun.

Let me know if you make it out to Vancouver in the near future: I can help you with your tasting list. I have a few L30s kicking around and I haven't opened one since we killed a bottle in under 24 hours at the 2008 Victoria Whisky Festival! (for VWF 2009, it was Laga21!).

What do you think of the Tulli 1966WC? Pretty awesome eh? Any chance that I tasted this "with" you at Willow Park WITW 2007?

Some of the bottlings have been pretty expensive for a while. Where have you mostly sourced your collection? Shops, collectors, auctions etc.?

Hi Jane,

20 of the whisky bottles are open, but they're usually the cheaper bottlings.

My favorites are the Laphroaig 15, Lagavulin 16, Glenfiddich 30, Ardbeg Uigeadail, Talisker 10 and the Blanton's Straight from the Cask.

The first expensive bottles that will be opened will be the Laphroaig 25, Port Ellen 25, Glendronach 33, and the Rosebank 25. No idea when I'll get around to that though.
