I live at the *ss end of the whisky world and I know of several collections locally exceeding 600 bottles. You have a way better selection in California that we do so you have a pretty good opportunity for collection, don't you think so?

From browsing the other U.S. sites and hearing of the Canadian restrictions, I have to say it is true. California is perhaps the best place to collect in this hemisphere.

Not a bad selection. I will have to head down 71 and help you taste some of those.

Thank you for the welcome vitara7! And for the good start. The hard part is to not drink it faster then i can collect it!
I am in wisconsin and it is hard to find good things here. i have been trying to find some Ardbeg but all anyone has is the standard which i am sure is fine but i tend to lean towards the older the better.
Any suggestions?
thanks

dgilbert I'd be very happy to drink your JW Blue with you. Welcome to the forums. I started with a couple of the classic malts. My interest developed from there.

Yes--throw out your "the older the better" preconceptions and find yourself a bottle of Ardbeg 10. You may in fact like older Ardbegs better, and wouldn't be alone, but you do yourself a disservice by clinging to that prejudice.

Welcome and happy dramming!

Welcome to the forums, nice to see the collection you've developed to date. Now, I'm close to Wisconsin, closer than Les I would hazard, regretfully I'm above the 49th.

Like many of the forummers I started with the basic Speysides, was startled into collecting by Oban  and Talisker at a tasting and haven't looked back since. If I did, all I'd see would be empty bottles of SM.

Be warned, whisky is an insidious hobby.

Thanks for the advice i will do just that. I am new to the wonderful world of whisky and appreciate any insight that is offered.

Thanks for the site Drrich1965 looks like i will be spending some money!

My pleasure..Mr. T is right, the Ardbeg 10 is pretty spiffy. I for one love the Oggy; others find it less stellar. The 2004 botteling seems to be viewed by many as the best; I think binnys still as some. Brett is a good guy there, ask and he will let you know what year it is....

It's okay, I just realised, in my attempt to be clever, that Les is above the 49th as well, just a bit to the East of us.

Ardbeg Uigeadail= Oogy, and this has been spelled many ways. Sorry for the linguistic lazyness.

Welcome to the forums dcb thats a good broad selection. I'm sure you'll enjoy building on it.

Hey dgilbert & Muskrat Caddington is about 30 miles north west of London if that helps to place it. Sorry I can't pop by for a drink without some notice.

I was organizing my shelves so I decided to put my collection out for a photo shoot.

These are only my closed bottles not any of the open ones and there is about 20 bottles missing that are either at my parents or still need transport back from my brothers in California.
