Fall 1959 Old Grand-Dad

I received a (un-opened, seal-intact) bottle of 100 proof Old Grand-Dad with 2 dates upon the seal... Fall 1959 and a little lower Fall 1964... for my birthday. Is boubon this old still drinkable? Does it get "better" with age? Is it valuable as such? It sure looks good... but should I crack it open?!? Thanks in advance for any information you can give me!

I'm no expert, but it is my understanding that as long as the bottle is unopened, there are no ill effects of great age. On the other hand, there are no benefits, either. I.e., it does NOT provide additional aging. The aging process is halted when the whiskey is removed from the barrel.

I got 3 bottles of Campbeltowns pride, Springbank 21yo. Empty in stock. Next botteling of a 21yo you have to wait until year 2008.
What do you think it bee worth like in 2005?
