I have seen a number 1950's versions auctioned off at McTears which is probably the most respected whiskey auctioneer in Scotland. Unfortunately these only make between £50-100 sterling depending on quality and whether it comes boxed or not.
These were for all the bottles marked By Appointment to Her Majesty The Queen
1953 - present
However if you have one which is by
By Appointment to The Late King George VI.
By Appointment to His Majesty The King
They rise in value.
So have a good read of the lable and make sure you distinguish the fact if you are selling.
