Prohibition-era whisky

Postby auslande » Mon Jun 16, 2003 11:25 pm

I have tree unopened bottles of whisky that date to Prohibition.
1. Corby's Special Selected Canadian Whisky. This 40-ounce bottle has stamps from the Ontario Liquor Board dated 1926.

2. A pint bottle of Old Overholt Rye. This one has a stamp that says made in 1920 and bottled in 1932. The back label has a hilarious disclaimer: "For Medicinal purposes only. Sale or use for other purposes will cause heavy penalties to be inflicted."

3. A pint bottle wrapped in a brown paper made exclusively for the Quebec Liquor Commission. I have not unwrapped this bottle. It has a stamp, which is partly torn.

Anyone know anything about these items?

I don't know anything about them; but they sound interesting! Keep us posted.
