Postby frankberlin » Tue Mar 25, 2008 5:18 pm

I found in my cellar this old boxed dimple whisky.
and i would like to know if it would be worth to sell it.
The bottle is a appointment to her majesty the queen.
The number is printed on the front label 8927911
I would be pleased for any answer of my question.
thanks is advance

frankberlin:
I'n not sure of the price but here are two different bottles that may be similar to yours.
Haig & Haig.jpg

That on the left is a 1 litre Dimple @ 43% abv with the number 830650. (The red dot is my code for "nearly empty needs to be drunk") It being the last of my pre University days bottles from the 70's.
The right hand one is a "Pinch 710 ml bottle @ 40% abv number 81061108, which also belongs in the Pinch box. This one was from my late uncle and dates from the 1980s.

I remember the earlier Dimple bottles also had a gold wire mesh on them. If yours has this it may be of slighty more value than mine,(which are NOT for sale). All I could find on a quick scan of Ebay was a small "mickey" selling for $20.00.

Frank:
Pretty neat that it's a combination in the labelling of both bottles I have, but it appears to be a smaller size yet again. Based on the hand holding the bottle. Is it something like a 350 ml bottle?

Pristine condition as well, you must have taken very good care of it in your basement.

I have one (full/sealed) identical to the one on the right, only in 86 proof and 4/5-quart -- but same labeling and closure -- and an advertisment for it c. 1969. That corresponds with your '80s estimation of the lower-proof version.
