How many CLOSED bottles do you have?

She is due on Aug 25th, but talking to her, she would love to deliver now. I tell her that I am going thru the same feelings. Put on weight my self, body ache, mood swing. I think my friend agrees with me, my wife thinks that is BS.I had some bottles for the special occasion, but the post office doesn't agree with me. I will need the seller to get it back from the post office and ship it Fed Ex or some other delivery agencies.

Congrads on the boy, now I will have a equal say in the house. Before my wife and daughter ran the house. Now I could tell her sports on t.v. He needs a football, couple of baseball gloves, basketball and some new video games. Better yet, a new t.v. I am counting down the days for freedom from those 2 girls.

Ha ha, I never had as many open as you I don't think. My dear lady is not as tolerant of open bottles as yours is. I've rarely had more than 60 open and at the moment its probably about 40. I'm finding at the moment that I've got such a big backlog of samples that I'm not doing much drinking from bottles and its pretty hard to open new ones.

Its not a problem I'm unhappy with though. Gimme time and I'll figure it out.

34 open and 9 closed. All the closed bottles are first time buys (except the HP12) and the only real reason they're closed is that I have nowhere to put them. They're in boxes under my desk at work until I have room at home. The sad part is I expect to add another 10-15 before things slow down any.

My final goal is 12-15 open and just 2-3 closed for special occasions (holiday, birthday, etc). But I'm trying to sample every readily available distillery to figure out which will have a place on my shelf.

I always used to open everything which I purchased. Couldn`t stand having a sealed bottle, too impatient to find out whether my taste buds had let me down, or if it was something new purchased just to try it out.
I am still pretty much in that vein, might purchse 3 or 4 at a time, but get them opened asap.
I do, however, now have 5 Rosbank f&f (having recently opened one up on my birthday) and a Duncan Taylor nc2 Mortlach which I had forgotten about in a different cupboard!!!
Everything else is open, and I normally get the urge to finish them off from about the bottom of the labels, although sometimes this means just getting it finished for the hell of it

I'm presently 'hovering' somewhere between 35 and 40 bottles unopened.
I've never purchased with the intent of collecting, though.
The fact that I have even this number of bottles still sealed is entirely accidental.

i got this Glenmorangie 18 which is worth twice what I paid for it, and a Macallan I won as a prize at a tasting. single cask, worth 4 times what it was worth then. Just waiting for the moment to sap 'em for a few less valuable, but highly drinkable malts...

Actually, the 20cl Port Ellen from my Islay Collection remains closed, and I intend for it to remain that way until I recover my senses. Physical senses; I'm afraid the others are inexorably lost.

I can't afford to buy a bottle of whisky and not open it. People might try to tell me that I simply can't afford to buy whisky at all, which would result in one of those situations where grown men cover their ears with their hands and start humming silly tunes very loudly.
