Has anyone studied distilling on this forum

Hello,

I have just (finally) finished my undergraduate study in Civil Engineering.

I am looking into transfering my degree to distilling based, I am aware of only Heriot Watts degree on brewing and distilling and have applied to the Postgrad course (hope i get on ... ), going to see department soon.

However has anyone else heard of any specific industry based courses, etc to attempt to start a career in the industry?

I have been looking at jobs with what engineering knowledge I have, sales my exp doesnt count ...and needless to say civil engineering aint too easy to apply to distilling.

Help would be appreciated, I have four years sales knowledge of whisky (specialist) and visited an ever increasing number of distilleries (not as much as u guys i know lol) and have a real enthusiasm to the industry I want to join, hence my problem of adapting my skills.

So any advice would be appreciated.

I've searched high and low on the internet and this seems the best place to ask: what are the typical qualifications for gaining employment at a distillery? What level of chemistry is advantageous, and does home distilling experience help one's CV?

There has been quite a bit of recruitment by almost of all the whisky distilling companies in the last year or two and distilleries have been expanded or re-opened.
I know several guys who have been recruited and they range from no knowledge or experience to guys with Brewing or Distiiling Certificates.
