The PE are from a closed, , never to be ressurected, distillery. The HP is an ongoing business venture. Based on that tidbit of information, I suspect you can get an inkling of my recommendation.
Get both the PE's ASAP and tuck them away. If you can afford to, buy two more to taste. I owned a PE release 1 and wish I'd purchased a second when I had the chance, it was a wonderful dram.
That being said, C57 is quite correct in asking what you like, because at the end of the day it's you that has to be happy with the purchase.
True about PE being a demolished distillery. However, the 50.7 HP is limited to stocks you run across as the current release is 48.1. I still recommend the PEs. But consider all of them if there is a possibility of spacing them out for purchase.
If your hoping the receiver of this gift drinks the contents then it matters little. If they like peat then the PE's, if they appreciate balance then the HP. If they are likely to disregard your generosity and sell it for cash one day, then buy them 6 bottles of Glenfiddich 12 - job done.
It seems that PE is more than a whisky, something special like the person i'm gonna give it.
Collector57 -> Jaja , It's not easy to find PE here so i can't send you 2 bottles sorry
I've seen the Port Ellen 9th release (280€), it seems quite expensive but we are talking about a 30years whisky, so do you think it's overpriced ? How does it taste members?
