Do all ISLAY Distillers offer completly different Phenolics?

I have only tried islay Bruichladdie Peat and then Laphroig 10 40%

BP fix me up. And clean ocean without too much salt

I did not understand LP10.

Basically I was not getting any Phenolic like arrival and to head.
Just the unknown residue smoke in nose.


Thinking Ardbeg. Is it like burning Tar smoke? sounds good + early memory!

It's a little difficult to understand your English, but it sounds to me like you like a dry coal smoke rather than a medicinal peat. I'd reccomend you try a Caol Ila Cask Strength and see if that's up your alley. If you like a briny (salty) flavour, one of my favourite home blends is 1/2 Old Pulteney with 1/2 Caol Ila Cask Strength. Although you don't like OP straight, it adds a wonderful taste of the sea to the CI industrial tar and coal blast. Give it a try.

Each Islay distillery has different specifications regarding the cuts of their spirit or their malted barley resulting in different whiskies and phenolic flavour profiles.
